NOTICE OF RACE
2008 JY15 North American Championship
Niantic, Connecticut
June 27-29, 2008
ORGANIZING AUTHORITY: The North American Championship Regatta is organized by the JY15 Class Association (JYCA) in conjunction with the Niantic Bay Yacht Club and has been sanctioned in accordance with the bylaws of the JYCA.
RULES: The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the U.S. Sailing Association, the rules of the JY15 class (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions), this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions, and any amendments governing the regatta thereto. This regatta will be a Category "A" event as stated in the RRS Appendix 1, Section II.
ELIGIBILITY: Eligibility for entry shall be in accordance with the JYCA. No boat shall race unless the helmsperson is a member of the JYCA.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT: A completed entry form or completed on line registration form and the entry fee should be made payable and mailed on or before June 16, 2008.

ENTRIES/ENTRY FEE SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO JYCA AND MAILED TO:
ENTRY FEE: The entry fee, if postmarked prior to June 16, is $190. The entry fee, if entry is postmarked on or after June 16, is $205. You can reduce the above entry fees by $5 if you are a US Sailing member. Participation will be limited to the first 75 entries received.
Please Read – the first 35 paid entries recorded on-line or received by mail will qualify your team to win a new jib. Drawing winner will be announced as soon as the entry total is reached. The sail will be available on Thursday, June 26.

REGISTRATION: Registration will be held on Thursday June 26, 2008 from 1700 to 2000, and on Friday June 27, 2008 from 0800 to 1000.
NUMBER OF RACES: Multiple races are scheduled dependent on weather conditions. 7-9 Races are preferred, but no race will start later than 2:00PM on Sunday.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: The Sailing instructions will be available during the registration beginning June 26, 2008
COURSES: Courses to be sailed will be provided with the Sailing Instructions.
SCORING: Scoring will be in accordance with the low point system of RRS Appendix A. If six or more races are completed, each boats worst finish will be discarded. One race completed will constitute a series.
TROPHIES: Trophies will be awarded to the top five skippers and crews as well as the highest placing skipper and crews in the flowing categories: Husband /Wife, Parent/Child, Master skipper (55 and older), Junior Skipper (less than 18 in the calendar year 2008) and Female Skipper.

EQUIPMENT: Boats will be dry sailed. The club has a ramp, beach and a hoist. If you would like to use the hoist please bring a bridle.
